On the eastern outskirts of the Ruhr area lies the city of Hamm, which has many attractions to offer. The Rhine metropolis of Duisburg has a population of about 496,000 people and is located on the Lower Rhine. The history of the town dates back to the Roman era and is thus one of the oldest cities in Germany.
