Šabac is a city and the administrative center of the Mačva District in western Serbia. It is situated along the Sava river, near the mountain Cer, in the region of Mačva.

The etymology of name Šabac is uncertain, although its resemblance to the name of the Sava River is suggestive. This name is in use since the end of the 15th century. In Serbian, the town is known as Šabac, in Turkish as Böğürdelen, in German as Schabatz, and in Hungarian as Szabács.

Prior to 1990, Šabac had one of the best developed economies in Yugoslavia. The main industries of Šabac today are agriculture, transportation and food production. Trebinje is the southernmost municipality and city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Located in East Herzegovina, it is part of the Republika Srpska entity, and its population numbers 31,433. The city lies in the Trebišnjica river valley, at the foot of Leotar, some 30 km by road from Dubrovnik on the Adriatic coast.
