The city of Bielefeld is located in Ostwestfalen-Lippe and is home to 325,000 inhabitants, making it the largest city in the region. At the same time, it is the economic center of the region. Surrounded by natural landscapes and close to the Teutoburg Forest, the small metropolis is a popular excursion destination for tourists, holidaymakers and leisure seekers. The city's main landmark is the Sparrenburg, which offers a wonderful view over Bielefeld and is the goal of the annual Hermanns race. Sparren Castle: Sparren Castle is located in the city center on the 180 meter high Sparren Hill. It is a fortified fortress, built by the counts of Ravensberg, who built the castle in the early 13th century, when it served as a shelter from attackers. Today the Sparren Castle is the landmark of Bielefeld and can be climbed without the entrance fee every day. From the 37-meter-high tower you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over the city.
The Nicolai Church in the Old town: The Old Town Nicolai Church is the oldest church in Bielefeld and dates from the 14th century. Three times a day, the clock can be heard, and the church is decorated with the Antwerp carved altar, which gives an insight into the history of the church and is richly ornamented.
The Old market: it is the historical center of Bielefeld, because here you can find old trading houses such as the old-time bank house lamp.
The Old Town Hall: The Old Town Hall is located at the Old Market and was built in 1904. In the Second World War, it was damaged and then rebuilt.

Rudolf-Oekter Hall: Named after the founder of the food company, the Rudolf-Oetker-Halle is a concert hall. There, concerts are played and offers a large and small hall for its ten thousand guests per year.
The Zoo Olderdissen: Olderdissen is located near Bielefeld in the Stadtwald. The entrance is free and visitors can admire more than 400 animals including bears, eagles, owls, wolves and rams.
