Split is unique in many ways - the love that its inhabitants express to it, the many songs people sung about the city, its white color that celebrates victories of its footbal club Hajduk, its centuries-old cultural heritage. There are many reasons why tourists choose to visit it, and one of them is certainly the availability of beaches whose sea water is as clean as on the islands - even though they are located in the very center of the city, which has more than 200,000 inhabitants.
Almost the entire coast of Split is available for bathers to enjoy swimming and diving. Moreover, the beaches are diverse, so you can choose between sandy, pebble, rocky, exposed or hidden.
To get to Split, consult the busticket4.me portal and the bus schedule Split. Get ready for the summer atmosphere of swimming and snorkeling and don't miss visiting the beaches we are writing about.
Trstenik beach is located in the eastern part of Split. It is located between the beaches of Žnjan and Bačvice. The beauty of the Split coast lies in the fact that most of the beaches are connected to each other, so Trstenik and Bačvice are connected by a nice footpath. The beach can also be reached by city bus.
This beach is located in the center of the city, but since it is not one of the most spacious, it is not even on the list of the most visited. The length of its coast is 400 meters, the entrance to the water is smooth, the depth of the sea gradually increases, and the water itself is as clear as a tear. However, you should be careful because this pebble beach has a lot of urchins and large stones in the water, so your feet can "suffer".

Bačvice is the name of the urban settlement in the central part of Split, although visitors to the city associate that toponym more with the beach of the same name. The specifics of Bačvice are numerous - it is located close to the city center, the water is shallow several tens of meters from the shore, and the beach is also the seat of the World Championship in Picigine, which is held once a year. Research indicates that the Croatian team is the regular favorite of the competition and its most frequent winner.
Picigin is a widely known ball game, characteristic of Split's sandy beaches, which is played in every season. It was included in the list of UNESCO protected intangible heritage, and the goal of the game is to pass the ball as long as possible without touching the sea or sand surface - similar to volleyball, with the fact that the ball is significantly smaller.
Kaštelat beach is located under the Marjan hill, two kilometers away from the center of Split. You can get to the beach by car, bus, bicycle, but you can also decide to walk because the pedestrian path is along the coast and offers an exceptional atmosphere. The beach itself is covered with small pebbles, the water is clean, calm, often turquoise in color. Due to such characteristics, urchins are common inside the sea, so be careful.
Entrance to the beach, use of showers and changing rooms is free, and it is possible to rent umbrellas and sunbeds, boats and kayaks. Part of the beach can be used accompanied by pets. There is a restaurant on the beach that offers local dishes and delicacies, and the evenings are usually reserved for partying until the early hours of the morning.

Bene or Marjan Beach, has two names and is located in the central part of the hill park forest above the town - Marjan. The beach is diverse in terms of the surface of the coastal part - it is partly rocky, partly sandy. There are numerous facilities at its disposal - tennis and indoor soccer fields, an amusement park for children, a restaurant, a bar, changing rooms, showers, toilets and drinking water. People with disabilities have easy access to the coast. The beach is intended for people who value peace and enjoyment in the shade of nature.
Žnjan is the widest beach in Split. It brings together all generations of Split residents and guests, because it is gravel, several kilometers long and has free parking space. It is especially popular with the younger population, due to the numerous newly opened beach bars that are open until late at night.
