Ulcinj has long been highly ranked on the tourist map of Europe as a summer and winter resort with an excellent climate, given that this part of Montenegro is characterized by a very favorable climate.

The spacious, shallow and well-sunlit pools are reminiscent of the lagoons of tropical seas, and are surrounded by unique, lush tamarisk forests. In recent years, this oasis has been recognized worldwide as a favorite place for birdwatchers.

Millions of birds on their annual migrations from Africa to Europe cross hundreds of kilometers in flight. For the rest and renewal of the energy of those heavenly travelers, the Ulcinj Saltworks proved to be ideal. This kingdom of birds is located about 5 kilometers from the city center.

The salt pan is, in fact, a unique eco system with an area of about 15 km² and it provides very good conditions for wintering and feeding birds. During the winter, there are more than twenty thousand of them in the salt pan. If you are a careful observer, you will recognize, in addition to wading birds, which are the most numerous, also ducks, herons, pelicans, cormorants, and even birds of prey. However, many visitors to this Nature Park will claim that the most beautiful experience is watching flamingos, birds that are the symbol of the Ulcinj Salt Flats. It is interesting that these fascinating pink birds live here throughout the year, and according to official calculations, there are about two and a half thousand of them.

Ada Bojana

At the confluence of the Bojana River with the Adriatic Sea, just after Ulcinj and Štoj, is the island of Ada Bojana, a favorite destination for a real vacation of all those who long to spend quality time away from the noise and crowds that are typical of many Mediterranean cities and beaches.

Although many people think that life here happens only during the summer, Ada is an excellent choice for a vacation for most of the year, from early spring to late autumn. In the summer, of course, Ada Bojana is the most beautiful, but you won't go wrong if you come in May or October to regenerate in this unique environment.

The smell of pines and sea water, the cooling breeze calms the spirit and has a beneficial effect on the body.

At Ada Bojana, you can choose several different activities, and the sports offer is very rich; and everyone can find something to their taste.

Not everyone comes here to sunbathe and take a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. On this part of the Montenegrin coast of the Adriatic, there are ideal conditions for windsurfing, and surfers from all over the world come to Ada Bojana to enjoy their favorite sport. Adrenaline is also guaranteed for fans of similar extreme sports (kitesurfing and kite flying).
