In the former capital of Serbia, in Kragujevac, the heart of Šumadija, Arsenal Fest is held at the end of June every year. It takes its name from the venue, the Duke's Arsenal, which is actually a complex of workshops and halls from the 19th century where the industry of Kragujevac, a city reputed to be the cradle of modern Serbian industry, was born.
The space where the festival is held contributes to the overall atmosphere of the event – the industrial buildings of the Zastava Armaments factory, as well as the Zastava Automobili car and truck factory, mix with loud sounds from the stages and rich lighting effects during the concerts.
Arsenal Fest was held for the first time in 2011, and since then it has been growing - in terms of the number of stages, and the number of performers and visitors. Already after the first few editions, the festival has positioned itself as one of the most interesting, relevant and promising summer festivals in Serbia and the region. What's more, in 2019, Arsenal Fest was shortlisted for Europe's best small music festival. This year, he was included in the prestigious ESNS Exchange program, which has been supporting and promoting young talents throughout Europe for decades. This program was a key step for many artists who are big stars today, among them Franz Ferdinand, Dua Lipa, Editors, Hozier, and others.
This year, the festival will last from June 27 to 29. The program will traditionally be held at the Knežev Arsenal location, Trg Topolivaca in Kragujevac, on three stages: Main Stage, Garden Stage and Explosive Stage.
The ESNS Exchange program, supported by the European Commission through the Creative Europe program, represents an opportunity for young talents. With 130 leading music festivals from Europe and the world, 27 European radio stations united in the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the program provides an exceptional chance for performers to show their talent.
Arsenal 2024 will feature Bijelo Dugme, Zdravko Čolić with the Symphony Orchestra, Kijana Reeves with his band Dogstar, Ian Pooley, Nouvelle Vague, Asian Dub Foundation, Circa Waves, Nick West, Lil Pump, Partibrejkers, Goblini, Svemirko, Kenny nije mrot, Jarboli , E-Play, Letu Štuke, Vojko V and many others.
