Würzburg is a town in the district of Lower Franconia in Bavaria, Germany. The city is the seat of the government of Lower Franconia and the Country Council of Würzburg as well as Bischop Seat of the diocese Würzburg of the Roman-Catholic church. Würzburg is located in the so-called "Maindreieck" in a "Talkessel" in the middle Maintal. Through the city flows the river Main, the most important river of the region. Its slope, climatic conditions and other location factors make Würzburg a popular wine-growing area. Three of the fifteen largest German winegrowers are located in Würzburg. The city of Würzburg is located in the mild climatic zone and the west wind zone. The Würzburg climate is particularly suitable for winegrowing. The average temperature is -0.6 ° C in January and 18.4 ° C in July.

The Würzburg Mozart Festival is the oldest Mozart festival in Germany and has been held in the Würzburg Residenz since 1922 during the summer months. Today it is one of the most prestigious festivals for classical music in the German-speaking world, with approximately 50 individual concerts next to the Salzburg Festival. Each year, up to 30,000 visitors come to the events taking place in the historic building of the Residenz, in the Hofgarten and in neighboring places.

The Residence: "Absolute must-see In Würzburg is clearly the residence!“ is the general opinion of the tourists. The "very romantic atmosphere" and the "great cultivated area" make this world cultural heritage the most popular sight in the city. While some admire the beautiful baroque building,  the other think that the wine cellar is the absolute highlight and "for wine lovers a MUST"!

The Old Main Bridge: (Old Main Bridge) was built 1473-1543 to replace the destroyed Romanesque bridge dated from 1133. In two phases, beginning in 1730, the bridge was adorned with twelve 4.5 meter statues of saints and historically important figures like John of Nepomuk, Mary and Saint Joseph, Charlemagne and Pepin the Short. The bridge was damaged by the World War II.

The Market Square: Travelers are particularly impressed by the façade of the Falkenhauses and the Marienkapelle in the heart of the city. The rococo facade is a real eye-catcher  and a great ensemble in the middle of the city!

The Cathedral: is a Roman Catholic cathedral i dedicated to Saint Kilian. It is the seat of the Bishop of Würzburg and has served as the burial place for the Prince-Bishops of Würzburg for hundreds of years. With an overall length of 103 metres it is the fourth largest Romanesque church building in Germany and a masterpiece of German architecture from the Salian period. The present cathedral was built from 1040 onwards by Bishop Bruno of Würzburgis. It likely was the third church on the site: the previous two, built in about 787 and 855, were respectively destroyed and severely damaged by fire.

Marienkapelle: is a Roman Catholic church located at the Unterer Markt (market square) It was built in the Gothic style in the 14th century. Despite its large size, it is a chapel by status, as it does not have a parish. Today it is administered by the united parishes of the Würzburg Cathedral and the Kollegiatstift Neumünster. The chapel was heavily damaged by the Bombing of Würzburg in World War II and its interior was destroyed by flames. It was rebuilt in the 1950s and re-consecrated in 1962.Its two best known works of art, the sculptures of Adam and Eve by Tilman Riemenschneider, are today located in the Mainfränkisches Museum and have been replaced in-situ by copies. The chapel is also the place of burial of noted Baroque architect Balthasar Neumann.

The Fürstengarten: Some people love the colorful view, others would have expected more – but nevertheless the Fürstengarten is so well-rated that during a Würzburg visit, it should be on the list of the 1o most beautiful sights. And if the Tourist areto be believe, it offers the best  experience almost every season!

The Veitshöchheim Castle: the last but not least - the castle of Veitshöchheim is definitely one of the 10 most famous places in Würzburg. Strictly speaking, of course, Veitshöchheim is not Würzburg. Nevertheless, the castle is ranked 10th in the ranking on TripAdvisor and tourists describe it as "romantic, "very nice to look at" and "beautiful even in the winter".
